PRIVACY POLICY

FlipFocus ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our privacy practices for our offline-first mobile application.

We do not store your flashcard content or study progress on our own servers.

The App stores the following on your device:

• Flashcards, decks, notes, and media: All your questions, answers, images, and audio you add
• Study progress: Your learning statistics, review history, and on-device analytics
• App settings: Preferences, themes, and customizations
• Backup files: Stored where you choose to save them

You control this data. You can delete it using in-app reset/delete options or by uninstalling the App.

Some optional features may rely on third-party services or device-provided services:

Purchases and Subscriptions (App Store, Google Play):

• If you buy Premium features, purchases are processed by your app store provider
• We do not receive your full payment details (like card numbers)

Advertising (if enabled):

• If the App shows ads, advertising providers (such as Google AdMob) may process information to deliver ads
• Device identifiers: Android Advertising ID, App Set ID
• IP address
• User product interactions: Ad interactions and engagement
• Diagnostic information: Crash logs and performance data
• This data may be shared with advertising partners

Text-to-Speech (TTS):

• Text-to-speech typically uses your device's system TTS engine
• Depending on your device and settings, a TTS engine may process text on-device or may use network-based processing

Translation (if enabled):

• If you use translation features, text you choose to translate may be sent to a translation service

OCR and Camera Scanning:

• If you use OCR or scanning features, the App may process camera input and text recognition on-device
• We do not upload your camera feed to our own servers

Google Sign-In or Google Services (if enabled):

• If you connect Google services, Google may process account and device information under its policies
• Any upload to cloud storage depends on the feature you choose and the destination you select

• Permission Requested: android.permission.CAMERA
• Purpose: The camera is used solely for real-time scanning and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract text from physical materials (e.g., books, notes) that you choose to scan.
• Processing Location: Camera frames and extracted text are processed on-device. We do not transmit camera data or OCR results to our servers.
• Data Retention: Live camera frames are not stored. Images are only saved if you explicitly capture and save them.
• Background Access: We do not access the camera in the background; use occurs only while you are actively in a camera/scan screen.
• User Controls: You can deny the camera permission; the app remains usable, but scan/OCR features are disabled.

When You Choose to Connect Google:

• Identity Only: We only use your Google account to identify backup ownership
• No Data Sent to Google: Your study content is not sent to Google's servers
• Local Encryption: Backups are encrypted on your device before any storage
• Your Control: You can disconnect Google account anytime without data loss

Local Storage Only:

• All data is stored locally on your device using secure, encrypted storage
• We use industry-standard encryption for local data protection
• No data is transmitted to external servers during normal app usage

Backup Security (Optional):

• When you create backups, they are encrypted on your device first
• You control where backups are stored (local files, Google Drive via your account)
• Backup files are encrypted and can only be restored by you

• We do not sell your flashcard content.
• We may share or transmit limited data only when necessary to provide optional features you choose to use (including but not limited to purchases, ads, translation, cloud services), which is handled by the relevant third-party provider under their own terms and privacy policies.
• Advertising data: When ads are displayed, device identifiers and ad interaction data may be shared with advertising partners as described above.

• We take reasonable steps to protect data stored by the App on your device using platform security features where available
• All network requests use HTTPS encryption
• Local data uses SQLCipher encryption for sensitive information
• However, no method of storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for securing your device and maintaining backups

Complete Control:

• Full Ownership: All your data stays on your device - you own and control it completely
• Export Anytime: Use the backup feature to export all your data
• Delete Anytime: Uninstall the app to remove all data, or use app settings to reset
• No Requests Needed: Since we don't collect data, you don't need to request access or deletion

FlipFocus is available for users of all ages:

• When ads are enabled, advertising providers' data collection applies
• Parents should review device settings for ad personalization controls
• You can opt out of personalized ads by resetting your advertising ID or limiting ad tracking in your device settings

• FlipFocus is available globally where permitted
• Your study data is stored on your device by default
• If you enable features that may send data to third-party providers, that data may be processed in other countries depending on the provider's infrastructure and terms
